Yalda Aoukar is Managing Partner and Co-Founder of Bracket Capital, the pioneering global investment fund and advisory firm with a focus on tech-enabled businesses that are disrupt- ing this generation and shaping the next. Bracket has deployed over $100 million since its founding in 2017. It has quickly risen to be one of the largest venture-focused investment man- ager in the Middle East and one of the leading investor in Southern California, with stakes in companies as diverse as Bird to Lyft to Happy Not Perfect.
Yalda started her career in London at Lehman Brothers in Fixed Income, followed by Barclays and Morgan Stanley in Private Wealth Management. She later moved to Doha as Vice President to launch Investcorp’s office in Qatar. She managed several key strategic relationships for the firm and advised investors on a variety of invest- ments in Private Equity, Hedge Funds and in Real Estate.
Yalda began investing in technology as a personal endeavor. As her passion for Venture Capital grew and her exposure to the buoyant start-up scene yielded successful results, she realized access to this asset class in traditional investment circles remained limited. Thus, together with her business partner Jihan Bowes-Little, the vision for Bracket ensued: to bring elite venture type investment opportunities to international investors, partic- ularly in Europe and the Middle East and bridge the geographical divide between Silicon Val- ley and the rest of the world.
Yalda is a champion for women’s empowerment and entrepreneurship, especially in financial sectors, where women are traditionally under-represented. She serves as an advisor to gov- ernments and policy makers on digital development in diverse fields such as Smart City Build- ing, Artificial Intelligence Integration, Automation and Education Technology.
She is an active member of Tomouh, an invitation only network in the Arab world for aspiring Arab leaders. She has also been a guest speaker at numerous women leadership events and women in VC events across Europe and the Middle East.
Yalda graduated with a B.A. in Economics and Political Science from the American University of Beirut (2006) and a Master in Public Policy (MPP) from Harvard University (2008). She lives in Doha with her husband and two-year old daughter.
